Summary
Vento Maritime is looking for a maternity leave meteorologist

If you as a meteorologist are motivated to participate in the green transformation with your knowledge of winds, waves, and weather, then you may be our new forecaster!

ABOUT THE JOB
The work tasks are varied and challenging and include:
• Lightning warnings, weather forecasts and briefings for offshore wind farms,
• Weather forecasts for other sectors in the offshore industry,
• Weather routing for vessels on ocean passages,
• Statistical analyses based on metocean hindcast data.

In addition, the job involves contributing to service and product development, projects with partners, sales, and marketing etc.

ABOUT YOU
We expect you to be a trained meteorologist, so that you are able to work independently after a short introduction training.

It is a requirement that you meet the competence standard of the World Meteorological Organization and that you have qualifications that include:
• Minimum a B.Sc. in meteorology or equivalent,
• Operational experience of working in a weather service.

We would like you to have:
• Good collaboration skills and social skills,
• Good communication skills, both orally and in writing, and that you are fluent in English and Danish,
• A really good sense of being service-minded,
• A good ability to handle both busy and quiet periods,
• Willingness and ability to acquire new competencies and that you are independent, flexible, and rather extrovert.

We deliver lightning alerts to 23 offshore wind farms to make it safer for wind turbine technicians and to improve the planning of the daily operation of the farms.
We provide weather forecasts, support, and evaluations of the reliability of the forecasts for drilling rigs.

We provide support for sensitive transports of wind turbine parts, submarine cable repairs and wind turbine installations. We provide weather routing for ships – typically small ships crossing an ocean.
We provide tailor-made statistical reports concerning calculations for weather windows in relation to criteria for wind speed, wave height, humidity, duration etc.
We collaborate with leading Danish organizations on relevant maritime multi-year projects.

You will be challenged by all what the maritime weather can expose sea farers to as freezing sea spray, long swells, thunderstorms, storms, extreme high waves etc.
In connection with the training, you will get an introduction into the Offshore Wind industry.
We offer fresh fruit and free coffee in the office.
You will have a base at our office in Amagerstrand UNITED on Amager Strandvej with a view of the Øresund but must also be willing to have a home office as shifts in weekends normally take place at home.

We would like you to join us at either 1st of April or 1st of May and until 31st December. This position is a 37-hour working week and the work takes place 24/7 every day of the week.
